Family Photoshoot in Elphinstone: Laura, Mike, and the Boys

I just wrapped up a super special family photoshoot with Laura, Mike, and their two amazing boys at their beautiful property in Elphinstone—and I couldn’t wait to share the magic we captured! You guys, their backyard is literally the stuff of dreams, right? Talk about a picture-perfect backdrop.

This wasn’t the first time I’ve had the honor of photographing this family. In fact, it was about the fourth or fifth time I’ve had the privilege of capturing their journey since the boys were just tiny babes. It’s always a little emotional to look back at those first shoots and see how much the kids have grown—and this session was no different.

The goal for this shoot was simple: keep things relaxed, natural, and focus on capturing the boys just being themselves. We wanted the photos to feel like a snapshot of their everyday life—playing, laughing, and enjoying their gorgeous backyard. I mean, honestly, this place is so stunning it’s like having a private little piece of paradise at your doorstep.

As usual, the boys were full of energy and ready to explore! We spent a lot of time chasing after them as they ran around, played with the dog, and just enjoyed the space. There’s something so beautiful about capturing those fleeting moments of childhood—those candid, unscripted moments that you just can’t recreate. It’s one of the things I love most about family shoots: no matter how many times I photograph a family, each session is a totally new experience, and the kids always bring something fresh to the table.

And here's a little extra treat—Laura also brought in her two gorgeous horses, Henry and Wilma, for a mini photoshoot of her own. Talk about a total vibe, right? We had so much fun with them, and it was the perfect way to add a bit of farm charm to the session.

In the end, this shoot was all about family, love, and making memories in the place they call home. It’s the simple things that make it so meaningful. To Laura, Mike, and the boys—thank you for letting me document your story, and for being such a warm and welcoming family.
