top 5 reasons to do a first look

Ah first looks. They’re becoming a popular trend in weddings these days, and it’s no secret that we LOVE them! They’re not for everyone though; you need to do what feels right for both of you, but if you’re leaning towards a first look, here are my top 5 reasons why I say... DO IT!!!

  1. You get to interact when you first see each other! If your first moment is at the end of the aisle, you can’t touch, or kiss, and you have all the eyes on you, but with a first look you can take a moment, and breathe it all in. You can even exchange vows then, or just get to tell each other how amazing you both look, without feeling like you’re interrupting the celebrant whispering to each other!

2. It might be the only moment you get to yourselves all day! We all know wedding days are super busy and literally fly by, so having some time to yourselves is priceless

3. If you’re nervous about how emotional you might get, this is your chance to feel all the feels, cry some of the tears (cause there will be more!), then touch up your make up before you see your guests!

4. If you choose to have all of your photos taken before the ceremony, you get to enjoy the rest of the wedding day without leaving your guests for a couple of hours during the pre-dinner drinks. Even knocking out 15-20minutes of bridal portraits before the ceremony is great.

5. The pressure is totally off!
You’ll both feel more relaxed having spent some time together already, so you can hopefully enjoy your ceremony.
I know that there’s a lot of excitement attached to your groom seeing you in your dress for the first time as you walk down the aisle, but this is STILL a really special moment even if you have shared some time together before the ceremony.

I can speak from experience, the first look was one of my favourite moments of my big day!
Our photographer picked a gorgeous spot, I stood with my back turned, hubby-to-be was led in by his brother with his eyes closed, we stood back to back and had a little chat & laugh before we turned around for the big reveal… and what a moment!
We just got to savour the little details and say a few sweet words… and we even had our wedding tribe there to witness which was heaps of fun.
We had all of the photos taken then, and there was just such a buzz of excitement of what was to come, and I feel like it really shone through in our photos when we look back.

So what do you think, is a first look for you?
