Kate + Benno’s at-home maternity session

Maternity photography holds a special place in my own heart, and while beautiful, unique locations for maternity sessions are awesome, sitting down at your beautiful and unique location presents its own touch of personality; your personality. Seeing your own space and how it embodies you and your soon-to-be-family will always give me the feels, and Kate’s maternity photos showcase that.

Simple backgrounds for maternity photo sessions aren’t a bad thing!

We started out on Kate and Benno’s patio space, as their potted flowers and green trees created an honest feeling of family. Simply sitting down and letting the future parents reflect on that idea is an easy way to start out any maternity session.

Plus, look at their dogos! These cuties joined us as well, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. They were pretty interested in having their photos taken as well haha.

My Secrets to a Maternity Session

From there, Kate headed out for a walk with a paddock as her backdrop. Maternity photography is a little more focused on the mum-to-be, so this was her time in the spotlight.

And I mean damn, her hat is perfect on her and a fitting touch. It will always round out a outfit!

Of course, it’s not only about the mum; bringing the dad back in for some more baby celebration is the perfect way to end the session. Once whole again, Kate and Benno had some fun joking with one another, and while the light perfectly illuminated Kate’s body (and bump).

Maternity photos that showcase you

There’s really nothing like capturing these magical memories for someone. Just a bit of time remains before these two become full-time parents, and documenting this for them is close to my heart. Here’s the coolest part about Kate’s maternity session, though: I was there for their engagement photos, their wedding, and now their maternity photos.

Pretty gnarly stuff (in a good way!).

Seriously, do you know how much joy it brings me (being a mum of two myself) to be there for so many different, and important, events for one family? The feeling is indescribable, even though it’s a bit cliché to say!

I’m so excited for these two and can’t wait to see them as parents!

Always remember that family is what matters most xx
