How To Get Your Fiancee On Board For Engagement Photos

Most photographers include an engagement photo session in their wedding packages. And if one is not included, I strongly recommend making the small investment!

As your photographer, it gives me the opportunity to see which light, angle, and pose work best for you and your fiancée BEFORE your wedding day, and a chance for your man to get comfortable with how I work.
So binge-read your photographers insta page and website, gather your friends recommendations and figure out what style of photography and editing your drawn too, make some enquiries and make sure that this is included in your package!

You wouldn’t read about it but the conversations that I have had with my grooms the morning of the wedding have been vastly different to our first meeting! It gives them a chance to get to know me, and know I’m there to make them look great whilst they have fun with all their mates.

Once we have scheduled your engagement photo shoot, here are a few things you can do to prepare:

1) What to wear. First, decide on how formal or relaxed you would like your pictures.
Do you want your engagement pictures to show how you two are casually, everyday in your relationship? In that case, a simple combo of a t-shirt + jeans will work. Are you more of a fashion-forward couple? Do you see yourself in a more formal look? Whatever you decide, make sure that both of you are on the same page.

You can ask what I would recommend, anddd I’ll send you my style guide to help. Between us, we’ll get you both wearing outfits that are super cohesive, and work in the location you have chosen because thats important too!

2) Location. There are endless possibilities for locations of your photo shoot. Some couples choose the comfort of their home, while others venture out. Do you and your fiancée have a place that is special to you? Do you both love the beach, a go to coffee shop where the barista knows both of your orders or maybe a rustic outdoor location? Did you go somewhere special on your first date or where you proposed? With all the options, pick the one that you can have the most fun with!

3) Glow up. I always recommend that my brides attempt to schedule their hair and make-up trial for the morning of their engagement shoot. This will also get the chance to see how your hair and make-up hold up as the day goes on, and how it photographs. Usually your hairdresser will have a play around with your official wedding style, and then pare it back into something more relaxed for your photos, and the same goes for your makeup. Drab to fab in no time!

The most important advice is to HAVE FUN!
Your engagement photography shoot is the perfect opportunity to let your personality shine and commemorate this special moment in your lives. No cheesy poses, just lots of candid moments which will give your photos a laid back feel.
